Kikuyu & Buffalo grass

We grow and lay both kikuyu and buffalo grass varieties. They each have their own strongpoints and weaknesses and your choice will depend on the needs of your particular location.

Some pros of kikuyu grass:

Very hardy; repairs itself quickly after damage caused by high traffic (children, dogs, general foot traffic).
With a little care, this grass remains green and lush with relatively little maintenance.
This grass has the ability to grow dense and lush with the proper care.

Some pros of buffalo grass:

This grass tends to stay green even with less watering than kikuyu.
Low maintenance in comparison to kikuyu grass.
Another aspect of being low maintenance is that it is not as invasive as kikuyu and won't easily overrun your garden.

The extremely low maintenance makes it a favourite of those who don't want to be cutting their lawn on a weekly basis, as can be the case with kikuyu lawns.
